AIRBUS Industries is a 100% owned subsidiary of EADS (European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company), European leader and third world-wide in the Aeronautic, Space and Defence sectors.

On June 23, 2000, Airbus Industries partners, EADS and BAE SYSTEMS announced the creation of the Airbus Integrated Company and on December 19, 2000, they announced the industrial launch of the A380.

The new company is listed on the stock market in Frankfurt, Madrid and Paris stock exchanges.

AIRBUS Industries groups all the EADS competencies dedicated to the Airbus activity. With four industrial sites totalling an overall workforce of 14,000 professionals, EADS AIRBUS S.A. covers all the aircraft manufacturing specialities (design, development, production, final assembly and product support) and at each stage brings the added value essential to the success of the programme.

AIRBUS has for objective the continuous improvement of the economic, technical and commercial performance of all the aircraft programmes on which it works : civil and military transports.

The Airbus range comprises:

  • Single aisle medium range aircraft: A319, A320 and A321,
  • Medium-to-long range wide body aircraft: A310, A300-600, and A330
  • Very long range wide body aircraft: A340,
  • Airbus A340 derivative versions (under development): the Airbus A340-500 and A340-600 whose entry into service is planned for 2002,
  • Airbus A380, four-engine very long range transport, whose entry in service is planned for 2006.

EADS AIRBUS S.A. and its partners are currently studying the development of several types of civil and military transport aircraft: the Airbus A318 (smaller version of the A319); the Airbus A400M (future European military transport aircraft); the MRTT (the Airbus military logistic transport).

Main figures:

  • Turnover : € 5,471 million (FF. 36.6 billion) in 1999, representing and increase of 25.4% with respect to 1998.

Another record year for Airbus activity with orders amounting to € 5,632 million for 476 aircraft giving a record backlog of € 19,829 million covering more than four years of activity.

In 1999, 294 Airbus aircraft were delivered.

AIRBUS is currently involved in several European projects. The system department concerned in ISAWARE II will bring its knowledge and inputs about operational needs, human-machine interface and cockpit integration.
